roses are red

I’m watching Sweet Home Alabama, and at the beginning there’s a scene where she comes home and there are roses all over the apartment, and rose petals strewn EVERYWHERE - carpet, bed, couches, bookshelves. And he leaves her this message saying “there’s a rose for every moment that I thought of you last night.”
First of all, gag.
Second of all, do either of them know how BAD her place is going to smell in three days when the roses have turned rancid? No, because rich people don’t have this problem. Their flowers are always fresh and the Mexicans get blamed when the place doesn’t smell right.
