where did my boobs go???

I got the monday blues.  It was such a lovely weekend.

Friday we bought a DDR for a giggle (the purchase was spurred by a youtube video of a little boy rocking the DDR in a big way… surely a 5-year old can’t dance better than I?!).  Turns out, it’s really really hard.  I think my mat was broken, because I KNOW I got rhythm son!!!

Saturday BB and I got up at the buttcrack of dawn to do tai chi out in the park.  I was really excited about this and had been looking forward to it all week, I was gonna find my center dangit.  The experience was less than ideal.  For starters, it’s at 8am on a saturday morning.  Honestly.  I had just gone to sleep.  I didn’t even have morning breath yet.  Secondly, it’s in the middle of the doggone woods and you move so slowly that all the mosquitos can land on you.  That is NOT CENTERING.  It’s ITCHY.  Thirdly, there is a park path that goes right past the tai chi centerfinding area, and all of these cute puppies were walking by, it was totally distracting.  And lastly, old dude near me had some severe BO that wafted my way every time we raised our arms…. slowly….  *gag* *barf* *die*.  BB also tells me that I wasn’t moving slowly at all, that I was doing a robotlike dance.  :(  I suck.

Also had a sumptuous feast at Nick & Cindy’s to celebrate their leaving the east side for San Diego.  I guess “celebrate” isn’t the right word - mourn?  We dug into Cindy’s crabs and Weiyung’s corns, and a good time was had by all!!  The end of the night was a little bit hazy for me though.. I vaguely remember shoving a pillow in my shirt and shouting WHERE DID MY BOOBS GO over and over again… which I am profoundly sorry for.

Miami Vice: C-.  Plot is detailed but shallow.  I was never gripped by it.  Hatsumomo doesn’t look nearly as lovely, and the 80s hair nearly destroys Colin Farrell’s credibility as a sex god.  Nearly :)

enough.

The moments that change your life come unexpectedly.

Enough.  Enough now.

3:30am sunday mornin.  Haunted by wack sleep cycles again.

So this morning I slept til 1pm (contradictory statement), and didn’t wake up until Kevin called…  I knew it was him because I’ve got my phone programmed to play a funkadelic coooool tune when he rings me.  I fumbled foggily for my phone, only able to see partially out of my left eye because my right eye was glued shut by nasty eye crap.  Found it, flipped it open, and in my brightest I’m-not-sleeping voice sang HIIIIIIIIIIIII into the phone as loudly as I could without croaking.  Volume fixes everything, for reals.  Unawares, he happily regaled me with stories of productivity and sunshine and lunchtime plans.  Inspired, I rolled over in bed to play two solid hours of Nintendo DS.  Take that!  Huzzah!

Oh stop judging me, you have done the SAME EXACT THING!  I KNOW IT!

Was supposed to watch the lovely and talented BB perform in the finals of Asian Idol tonight.. we were parked in poi-fect viewing seats with asian food and asian drink in hand when in the course of 20 seconds, the light went out and the sky opened up and projectile vomited on us.  Luckily, J.Bauer was with us and foresaw this occurrence, leading the way to a tented VIP area just in time.  Woo!  Rode out the storm but unfortunately, the partyplanningpeoples didn’t think to maybe throw a tarp over the sound equipment or something, so things got somewhat ruined and the competition was postponed.  Boo.  Was somewhat mollified by the sight of J.Bauer frolicking in the mist that was coming off of the tennis court surface.

NEW WEBSITE!!!

So…… I changed up my blog a little bit.  What thinkest thou?  All the old entries are here but unfortunately, the comments didn’t copy over.  Sorry.  I think there’s a way to register (bottom of sidebar) so that you get emailed anytime I update this darn thing - saves time rather than having to check my site to see if I’ve written anything.

Last night had a wonderful extra-yum crab feast at Dave’s.  I nearly didn’t feel up to going because the day had worn me out so thoroughly.  But sitting in Dave’s backyard in the warm twilight with the grill going, pounding on some crab legs and sucking on Old Bay, I thought.. this is summer.  This is great.  And suddenly, the day was a lot better.

Later in the evening, made another trip to Wawa’s with the gang.. I mostly don’t remember the trip to be honest, except that there was a lot of screaming in the car for the entire roundtrip, and at one point I moved abruptly from the back seat to the front seat. :P

viva l’espana!

Had a fantastic party on saturday, with a Spanish theme. Friends came over and enjoyed a spread of Spanish meats and cheeses, a specially laid out pinchos bar (Spanish tapas speared with toothpicks), sangria and other yummy Spanish snacks. It was as authentically Spanish as I could possibly make it, and I very much hope that everyone enjoyed themselves and perhaps learned a little bit about Spain as well.

Special thanks to BB and Kevin for generously and willingly offering up their saturday afternoon to slave in a hot kitchen with me! And to Christina for making the trek down from her new home in NYC and spending her only evening in DC with us! You are all amazing and I am so happy to have been able to host you in my home this weekend.

On a related note, theme parties are the funnest. What’s next? Caribbean? Cuban?? HAWAIIAN???

Having some trouble keeping up with the amount of pictures I need to upload, but pictures WILL follow! Or, email me and I’ll send you links directly. I don’t really like posting my mug up on this blog.

Wow, where did the week go? Where did the bloody, suffocating week go???

Went downtown last night to watch a friend’s friend’s band play. The band is named Keeley & Stan - sounds an awful lot like Steely Dan, but I think that’s just a coincidence. It was a lot of fun, despite the preponderance of folks in the room smoking Marlboro Reds. Gasp choke vomit die.

Kevin took a picture of his own elbow cleavage and has been trying to convince everyone that he managed to shove a camera up a girl’s miniskirt as she was walking by. Most people manage to throw doubtful looks up pretty quickly, but I have to say that the picture is pretty convincing… there’s a questionable little nubbin right at the top of the cleavage.

Visited a great Wawa’s in Gainesville (yes, it’s worth the trip!) Got a new killer laptop. Unrelated events.

Was in a conversation about an hour ago about going to Booty Bay and getting attacked by whores. I might have heard that wrong though - someone correct me :) HEE HEE HEE

HARRRR

Pirates of the Caribbean, pretty good HARRRRRRRR. Orlando Bloom’s character stepped up a notch in the hot-o-meter - as opposed to being overly pretty and pansy-like and GAY in the first version.

Pre-movie, we got into the spirit of things with a good old-fashioned pirate booty BBQ. Lots of rum of course, and all of the regular BBQ fixins. Kevin made some delish jerk chicken and key lime dessert, and guests Jen and WY made the very bootylicious Taiwanese corn (soooooooo good). Also on deck were brats and ice cream pie and a million other things to eat, YUM.

Further in ye ole pirating spirit (search page for “sweet17″ to get to the pirate one.. though the rest of the page is freeeakin hilarious anyway):

World Cup final tomorrow. Yay! Hmm, 4:30am, maybe I should go to sleep.

vanish.

Highlights:

Salazar BBQ, lots of great food. Evening was capped by the (deliberate… but possibly drunken) detonation of an airbag - it flew about three stories into the air with a terrific bang. Scary to think that that is what goes off in your face when you hit something! (um….. in a strictly platonic way, that is!) Also, aiming bottle rockets at 495 and the neighbor’s homes. Pretty sure that’s illegal. But it was in Maryland so who cares.

Picked up a DS Lite on JB’s recommendation and it is SO! MUCH! FUN! I got two nintendogs, a cavalier named bao-bei and a chihuahua named havana. My new adorable furbabies love belly rubs and long walks on the beach. Also have been playing that Brain Age game (my brain age=20, my spindly neck can barely support my gigantic head!!) and a dozen other games against friends that are just good screaming fun. YAAH!!

Lost my ass in AC, but managed to make my contribution prior to AC shutting down this morning. For reals, google it. Marie the Dealer was quite the unapologetic slayer, slamming us with soft 21s over and over again, and doing it at the pace of a snail on a downer. I have added “slow dealers” to my list of all time pet peeves.

Soothed my loss at the Borgata Buffet dessert bar:

And for good measure, my buddy who got his head caught in unfortunate vise situation.

D’oh!

And lastly, a movie recommendation. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. Really really good.

Vanish.
