the perfect day

Ahhh, this was a very good day!

To be honest, I should have been working more but I really did not do too much.. got up butt early to help Kristin get her movers situated and then, still unshowered and in sweats at 8:30am, made an executive decision to work from home for the day. Kristin and Steve bought me a breakfast burrito and I love them to pieces already - then I got jealous of all the stuff being moved around so I decided to clean out my kitchen cabinets :-)  Had lunch with Kevin.  Did some more work.  Drew a map of the neighborhood for Kristin with my new markers.  Took a nap at 6pm.  Woke up, ate leftover pad thai, and had some friends over to watch the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy.  Bit of a boring day but I haven’t had one of those in a really long time.  Which makes it the absolute perfect day.

namaste

i need sleep :(  my sleep cycle continues to be wackety-wack-wack and it’s starting to wear on my ability to remember words.

My new roommate Kristin moves in in the morning!!  So excited. Well, it kind of shot the do-nothing gaps in my weekend because I was cleaning, straightening, putting things up, taking things down… A gigantic thank you to Kevin for helping me with that stuff, Martha Stewart I am definitely not. Plus I am terrified of poking holes in a wall that I paid so much money for. And my Kevin…. well he’s quite the poker. Tee hee.

Last night went to a friend’s birthday at Dragonfly, which turned into wandering around AdMo from bar to bar, losing members of the party at each stop we made.. don’t you love nights like that? We could be sitting somewhere actually having a conversation.. or dancing.. or eating.. or perhaps, celebrating a birthday. But instead, we’re wandering as a disjointed pack, looking for the coolest place to be seen. Omg. Am I getting old??? Eventually we became the lost ones ourselves. Gave up looking and went to total dive TomTom where we danced til our feet gave out. I haven’t partied in a place like that in years, where the crowd gyrates as a single unit butt to nut, to old school hip hop, hands in the air and everyone’s your best friend.  Kevin and Harry (hair-bear) had the admirable task of protecting three asian women (one whose legs are a mile long and was wearing a skirt that could have doubled as a headband) (no, not me, I gots stumpy hobbit legs), a duty that hairbear abandoned immediately in favor of trying to pick up girls himself who were standing on the outskirts of the crowd… incidentally, every girl he chose was a bigger fob than the last. God’s justice.

This morning I tried to take my family to Todai for mother’s day, which was the biggest mistake ever. A family-eats-out holiday + all you can eat chinese/japanese buffet means that the asians come out of the woodwork in droves to feast. The wait was two hours long. We ate at Sakoontra (thai) instead, where the crispy fried shrimp was super yums and our waitress did that super cool thing where she pressed her hands together while excusing herself. Namaste, beeyatch!

It’s 3am, I just finished reruns of Mad About You and Murphy Brown, and now Fresh Prince is playing. Time to try sleeping.
