You know.. when you’re not feeling great about your day, Earth Wind & Fire is just about the worst thing you can listen to. Dashboard Confessional runs a close second.

Ok, no more negative bad restaurant-slash-political-slash-redskins posts. I can’t believe I got worked up enough about Sette Bello to recite our entire order here. Sorrrrry…. I resolve to be as zen as buddha himself. Do you think Buddha ever had to ‘turn the other cheek’ and let people punch him out, like Jesus did? Maybe buddha was homeboy enough that nobody wanted to step to him. I mean, look at the gut. He’s a total pimp. Who’s the bigger badass god now, huh?
gay cowboy movie = gimmick.
Update on my resolutions..
Watched part of the bachelor - Talkin’ shit about other womenses, baaaaaad. There is nothing more unattractive. Kissing with tongue on camera making slurpy noises, baaaaaaad. Nobody wants to see the tongue, bro.
This also reminds me, my roommate was trying to eat hot pizza quietly yesterday, and made the slurpiest popping noises while doing so. Yeah - like THAT. Barf.
OH. (random today). is this really good advertisement for an ugly $240 shirt? maybe it’s $1 for the shirt and a $239 contribution towards a personality makeover and haircut for the model. http://www.eluxury.com/browse/product_detail.jhtml?styleid=10981615&SectionID=7000

I ran two miles today. Wheezing, but still. It’s something. You know what’s really annoying is when you’re running full stride, sweat dripping, and the guy on the next treadmill wants to start a conversation. Isn’t that bad gym etiquette?
Didn’t do much this weekend but eat. So - here is the food report:
Rosa Mexicano was actually very good - the guac was great, and very interesting presentation the tacos - a tiny skillet with meat, grilled vegetables, and cheese.. and a lot of tiny containers with interesting taco toppings. The dessert was really good - standard tasting flan, but with a side of melted crap that was really yummy, and crystallized pineapple to garnish. Yes I would absolutely recommend it, but I think I just can’t justify paying really high prices for Mexican food though (have the same gripe about Oyamel). I feel like real Mexican food is just supposed to be inexpensive, period. I would also like to add that while some find it a charming experience, I think it’s a sham when you have to assemble your own food. Oh one last thing - our waiter was a tall elegant from-africa African, who looked really strange in an embroidered Mexican shirt… but our busboy. He was the real deal.
Aight.. Sette Bello. We had reservations at noon but got eager (read: starving) and showed up half an hour early. The place supposedly has sunday brunch from 10-3, but when we arrived it was EMPTY. We were the second table seated, in a pretty large restaurant. Ignoring this danger sign, we decided to order from the breakfast/brunch specialty menu, rather than gorge ourselves with the special Restaurant Week menu - possibly big mistake. I ordered a breakfast pizza with home fries, and Kevin got a standard breakfast that sounded pretty fancy (eggs, toasted brioche, sausage). First of all, our waiter sucked complete donkey balls. Service was so bad, and don’t try that “we’re Italian!” crap either, because this was way beyond that. The table that got seated next to us later (3 rich ladies) had the same complaint. Secondly, the food: the pizza was crap - half the stuff they promised as toppings were nowhere to be found - but there sure was a hell of a lot of artichoke hearts!. And there is a situation with an egg on top that would take way too long to explain. I’ll sum it up with: “shit”. I also never got my home fries, so I have nothing to complain about there I guess. Kevin’s fancy breakfast looked pretty sad - IHOP does a better job on presentation. He ordered his eggs over easy but they were fairly close to being well done, his “toasted brioche” looked like two small rye crackers, and his sausage looked like a hamburger patty, but he claims it was a tasty one. I will say one nice thing about Sette Bello though - they have nice tables and chairs. Anyway, don’t bother going.

Oooh, also there’s this cool thing on the news about the technology that head coaches use to talk to their quarterbacks on the field - it goes from those gigantic Motorola headsets, through a scrambler, to a speaker in the QB’s helmet. I think it’s one-way only though. And the NFL officials have the ability to cut off the signal when the play clock reaches 15 seconds, to break communication. That would be the coolest job ever.
They also had a soundbyte of Mark Brunell (with what looked like two black eyes) saying in classic geezer-style: I remember back when we had to rely on hand signals, yada yada…
Yeah, thanks for underlining how old our QB is. Thanks.

I found out last night that it’s Restaurant Week in DC :-O… So there’s only four days left, which means all of the new really hot restaurants are booked already. Crap. But, we are going to Rosa Mexicano with friends on saturday, and having a shexy Italian brunch at Sette Bello on sunday. Yums. Hmm.. I wonder if I can fit in a dinner on friday too. Maybe I need to start thinking about working out, rather than planning out where I am going to eat my next fifty-eight meals.
It’s been unseasonably warm here in DC lately.. still chilly for me since I prefer the stifling humidity of high summer, but warm enough to not freeze an egg on the sidewalk. Kevin and I went to the FDR memorial on monday night and took a little bit of a walk around the monument and along the water. It was very peaceful and a good way to start the week.
I’ve been following the Alito confirmation hearings - I usually hate talking politics but I’ll make this one exception - how ironic is it that the democrats are frustrated about Alito saying he would keep an open mind about Roe vs. Wade? What did they want him to say? That he had made up his mind already? What kind of supreme court justice would he be then? Open mind… the bastard! The democrats are grasping at straws, pulling at obscurities and technicalities.. but the entire hearing has become a circus. A republican trying to help Alito’s case actually uttered the words Are you really a closet bigot? Thanks for the help, buddy! Ok that’s enough of that. Side effect of living in DC.

Two things… First, I meant Kelly Hu, the gorgeous babe, seminekkid prophetess goddess asian warrior virgin thingy in Scorpion King.. also the most beautiful wolverine anyone’s ever seen, real or fictional. Not Michelle Hu, nondescript 23 year old student in Singapore.
Kelly, not Michelle. Kelly.
Second.. you know how they say chili makes you fart? Totally true.

I am totally becoming Martha Stewart and it’s awesome. I made a big ass pot of chili last night which was really good.. Kevin came over mid-stew and said my place smelled like armpit - oh well, that’s the price of good chili! The secret to great chili is… accidentally double amount of chili powder, leave out the ground coriander seeds (seven bucks for that little bit? FORGET IT who needs flippin coriander anyway), forget to remove seeds from the jalapeno, inadvertently add an extra GLUG of wine, and simmer for two hours instead of the recommended 1.5 hours. Totally yum.
Tonight’s menu, tex-mex sloppy joes with a side of … chili probably. I’ve got enough to feed a football team. Incidentally, go skins. Woot.
Do you think Michelle Hu eats sloppy joes and chili?? Gosh I really hope so.

In my defense: they were baked, not fried.
